Rising from adversity to inspire action and initiative in others facing their own hurdles.
Meet Thinitra
Thinitra Smith, a Project Manager in the Product Delivery department, whose journey from overcoming life-changing obstacles to leading and helping others inside and outside of the workplace.
How She Started
Thinitra’s story began with a strong commitment to education and technology. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Southern University A&M College, she was ready to launch into the technology industry with multiple opportunities lined up. However, life took an unexpected turn, just one day after graduation, Thinitra was involved in a serious car accident that left her having to relearn how to walk. That moment was life changing and the job offers she had were no longer possible. Yet through her positive attitude, determination, and perseverance, Thinitra pushed through. She refused to let it determine her future and literally, rebuild her life step, by step.
The healing process began as she had to start over with her career as a Technical Support Representative. It was in this role that she discovered not just love for technology, but a passion for helping others solve their problems and succeed. Gaining more knowledge and experience, her curiosity led her to advance in the field of Technology and earning her MBA degree. Each step in her life became an opportunity to learn, lead and lift others. Her expertise and dedication led her to key roles in supporting systems, improving processes, and building stronger connections with people.
Where She Is Now
Today, Thinitra serves as a Project Analyst Manager at Office Of Technology Services in the Product Delivery department where she turns ideas into action. She loves helping others connect the dots from idea to completion, and watching them grow in the process.
When she is not managing projects, she continues to lead through service. Thinitra is one of the founders of a non profit organization, Sistars of Empowerment, dedicated to equipping youth and women with the tools they need to live successful, purpose-driven lives. Through mentorship, community events and empowerment programs, Sistars of Empowerment has helped many people find their purpose.
Beyond her professional and volunteer commitments, Thinitra still has a few surprises up her sleeve. She loves boxing for her way to de-stress, stay fit physically and mentally. Through her professional, volunteer commitments and personal goals, Thinitra has learned to blend empathy with structure which is a beautiful balance of heart and hustle.
