Julio Romero
EUC Director of Field Operations
Helping others along the way means learning alongside them.
Meet Julio
Julio’s passion for IT began unexpectedly. As a teenager without internet access, he taught himself how to troubleshoot computer and network issues. With guidance from a family member in IT, he quickly built skills important for end user support.
How He Started
While studying Marketing at LSU, Julio worked as a student technician for the Department of Administration’s IT division. That hands-on role revealed his true professional calling.
After graduation, he initially pursued marketing but found the work lacked the sense of purpose he felt in IT. Returning to school and rejoining the Division of Administration’s information technology area, he rediscovered how much he enjoyed helping users and solving technical problems. His communication skills and customer-first mindset, shaped by his marketing background, gave him a unique edge.
In 2017, Julio joined the Office of Technology Services as a contractor during a major IT consolidation. His leadership potential quickly became clear, leading to his role as on-site lead at the Claiborne Building. By 2018, he was hired full-time and later helped transform operations on the OTS Galvez team. In 2021, he was promoted to End User Computing’s Field Operations Supervisor.
Where He Is Now
Julio has continued to grow through ongoing learning, process improvements, and strong leadership. He expanded support across multiple agencies, implemented security compliance standards, built procedural redundancy, and developed professional growth paths for his team.
