More About Data Center Operations
DCO manages the core technology infrastructure that powers the OTS enterprise environment, including servers, email, directory services, databases, mainframes, storage, backups, cloud platforms, and physical data center facilities. High availability, performance, and redundancy technology and processes ensure the reliability, stability and optimization of hosted services. Infrastructure processor and data resources are replicated across two data centers, enabling failover and continuity of operations in the event of a crisis.
Innovation & Impact
- Enterprise Server Management: Administers the operation of more than 5,000 physical and virtual servers, supporting over 11 petabytes of data across the enterprise. This includes management of the state’s email infrastructure and core computing resources.
- Database Management: Manages and maintains over 14,000 databases across on-premises environments and cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity for mission-critical applications.
- Mainframe Architecture: Operates and supports mission-critical mainframe systems that serve key state agencies, including DOA, DCFS, DOTD, DPS, LDH, and LWC. These systems power essential government services and ensure secure, high-performance processing for statewide operations.
- Data Storage & Backup: Safeguards over 31 petabytes of data through reliable storage systems and nightly backups, ensuring data protection, privacy, integrity, and rapid recovery capabilities to support business continuity.
- Facility Monitoring: Maintains and monitors statewide data centers and infrastructure system hardware to ensure optimal availability, security, and operational integrity of enterprise IT services.
- Cloud Services: Provides the system administration of public cloud resources, such as servers, storage, databases, security and network components.
